Existing legal traditions were built for a world in which facts are asserted by institutions and verified by other institutions. Lex Cryptographica inverts that substrate. Facts are generated by hardware, attested by protocol, and verifiable by any party holding a public key. The institutional frameworks governing assertion, verification, and dispute resolution were not designed for this condition.
